Power of 3.0 Volvo Penta?
I'm looking at purchasing a 1998 Caravelle 19' Bowrider. It has a Volvo Penta 3.0L 4 cylinder. I used to own a 18ft boat with the same 3.0L Mercruiser. I'm wondering if these boats will have simular power? Or does anyone own this boat? Will it pull skiers,tubes,wakeboard good.
the 98 volvo uses the same basic 3.0L GM Engine as the Mercruiser all internal engine parts are totally interchangeable.
Same engine same output== the Volvo SX drive hydrodynamics is a little cleaner than the Merc but both are good units.
Both Volvo and Merc would be underpowered for a serious skier or wakeboarder
Experience with Volvos and Mercuisers both as a mechanic and Marine Propulsion System applications specialist since the early 80's
