Help choosing a boat?
I'm looking to buy a boat, I want something that's fairly multipurpose. Like if I wanted to use it for fishing or water skiing or just a day of hanging out with friends on the boat. Id mostly be using it on lakes and rivers and sualton western PA, but inhabe a lot of friends and relatives down the jersey shore so if there's anything that could be used there as well that would be nice. Also, if there's one that's light enough that I could tow it around with my wrangler unlimited so I don't have to borrow my friends truck whenever I want to go boating.
My question is: just how many is "a lot of friends and relatives"?
Fact is, on a world wide basis, (despite every boat designer's efforts) there is no such thing as an "ALL-IN-ONE" boat. I wish there was, I would have one.
When buying a boat, often some very hard decisions have to be made.
I strongly suggest that since you are the one that is buying the boat, and you are the one that will be using the boat... you forget your friends and family long enough to decide FIRST what YOU want. How will you get the most pleasure out of your boat? Because... after the newness wears off... it will be just you and your boat... You will learn real soon that your friends and family won't be near as excited over your boat as you are - because if they were, then they would own one too.
For the exception of July 4th weekend - when every land-lover in the country suddenly wants a boat or a boat owning friend - so they can see fireworks from the water. On that one day a year, no boat is big enough... After that however, you will seldom need little more room then it takes to accommodate your immediate family and a friend or two.
Every weekend, I witness $100,000 plus boats sadly left at the dock tied in their slips - only because the owner expected all his friends an relatives would be as excited about his boat & boating as he is...
Its your boat, get what you want... then invite who you can.
