Is the jet engine a dead end in propulsion methods of that nature?
Can it be more fuel efficient?
An aircraft engineer answered and I am sure very correctly why there could not be and electric powered jet engine.
The engine in a tank and a plane are the same.
But.....
Could not the ducted fan idea be combined with the turbo jet idea to make a more fuel efficient engine, I mean 4 gallons a mile is not war friendly.
Could not the spining of the compressor be electric and the fuel burning made more efficient in a plane engine?
I think people have done a lot of thinking about that and probably tried the ideas you had posted. If the jet engine could be made more efficient then it would go farther and faster and maybe higher. You should try NASA or the NIAC and see what they predict for the jet engine.
